The objective of this project was to redesign the layout of the Columbus College of Art & Design Packard Library. The design allows for the library to be more accessible for students and holds an emphasis on material choice appropriate for the space.

Research was gathered from the CCAD archives to gain a better perspective of the origins of the library, and thereby improve design for the future of the space.

The primary uses of the space, current layout and materials in the library were evaluated in order to combat existing design flaws and to choose better materials.

Trips to local libraries in Ohio were done to observe user activity and material selections in association to activity.

A trip to Steelcase's Learning and Innovation Center inspired furniture and material choices.

Another aspect to this project was to design a case good item in which would be implemented into the redesign. This trendy seating/shelving unit allows for an unexpected cozy spot to read, relax or simply resting personal items on while browsing the stacks.
